April 2007 News and Photos

Mom's Night

Mom's Night was a success!  Many parents came for a tour of our school with their own son or daughter as a guide.  Parents enjoyed seeing what work their child found interesting in our classroom. The children taught their parent how to use the materials in their classroom appropriately.  The night was concluded with some parents staying to sing "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes" and making silence.  Fun was had by all!  We are looking forward to Dad's Night in May.

Childhood Games and Play Outdoors

Remember playing with friends outside?  The weather has been so beautiful that we have had time to go outside to explore and play.

Ring Around the Rosie . . . Ashes Ashes . . . we all fall down!

London Bridge is falling down . . .

Looking under logs for insects and worms.

Looking at flowers close up.

A Perfect Day

We finally have a perfect spring afternoon to sit in the meadow and share a book and a few stories together!

Spring Photo Dates

Picture Day will be Monday, April 23 for morning students

Tuesday, April 24 for afternoon and all day students

                                 Rain date:  Thursday, April 26

A full class photo will be taken on Tuesday, April 24 at 11:30

Photos will be taken outside with a natural landscape backdrop.  Please dress your child in solid colored, casual clothing.  A shirt paired with jeans or a skirt, or a simple dress would be perfect.  Try to avoid stripes or bold patterns.  Solid colors will keep the focus on what is most important - your child.  Proofs will be sent home for viewing approximately two weeks after picture day.  If you wish to order prints, you may do so at that time.

Back to Work

The children were all busy as they returned from Easter Break.  Here are some photos of the work that occurred in the classroom on the day we returned.

Here are some children interested in sea animals.

This young man is working on a puzzle of North American Song Birds.  We see all of these birds out on our school bird feeders and trees..

This new friend is concentrating on building The Pink Tower using the cubes largest to smallest.

These children are recreating the story about Jesus and the Children.

A friend in our class went to Jamaica during Easter Break.  Here she is showing her friends a crab shell she found.

Building Update

The Kendall County Regional Planning Commission met March 28 and moved us forward to the Zoning Board of Appeals.  This means we will not be breaking ground on our new building until we have been cleared by the ZBA on April 24.  The only concern the commission had was where our building was planned to be located.  We are in the process of making a new location plan and getting the paperwork to the county this week during our spring break.

At this point we plan to open the Monday following the Yorkville school district.  Our first day of school will be Monday, September 10, 2007.  All students on our waiting list will be notified of their status after the ZBA meeting in April.  We will continue to pray that our process will continue to move smoothly. Thank you for your prayers and letters of support.

Please let us know if you would like to attend the Zoning Board Meeting to show your support on Tuesday, April 24 at 7 P.M.
