Peaceful Parenting - Discipline Tool Kit

Thank you to all the parents that attended Susan Tracy's workshop hosted at our school on Saturday, March 21.  Many useful tools were given to parents to use and make us all better parents.  For more information or to contact Susan, you may go to her website  www.ltpec.org

Box Tops for Education and Campbell Soup Labels

Be sure to send your Box Tops and soup labels to school.  Box Tops do have an expiration date so please be sure to bring them in so we have time to process them before expiration.

Working Together is Fun!

In our classrooms we are building a community of friends.  Activities hold great purpose and we care for one another.  Here are some of the ways the children work together in our primary rooms.

Helping prepare snack for friends.

Working together to learn how to build words and numbers is beneficial.

Folding classroom laundry is not only a necessary work but enjoyed.

Taking care of our class plants keeps the classroom beautiful.

Reading to younger students or classmates is enjoyable.

Many times an older child will show a younger child how to use a class material.  This builds confidence in the older child.

Of course it is also fun to play together outdoors!

Re-Enrollment Intentions

Re-enrollment packets are due this Friday, March 6.  After this time we will be filling all remaining openings with applications we have received.  Please fill out the applications completely as your child has developed over the year since you have filled out the information on last year's application.  Thank you!

Coffee and Chat

Our next Coffee and Chat will be Monday, March 9 at 9 a.m.  Please ask your child's teacher for location details.  There is no agenda at coffee times - it is just an informal  time to visit with other parents and Ms. Shawna.

The Natural Development of a Reader and Writer

Many adults have limited memories of learning to read.  The memories we have are directly related to the type of reader we were and may still perhaps be.  If reading was a skill acquired with an average amount of effort we have fewer memories than someone that required a greater degree of effort.  Regardless of the type of reader we were, the level of enjoyment we experienced from it or our preferred reading material, then or now, we are often unsure of how to help our own children conquer the one skill that is one of the most important skills we have in life.

We use reading and writing to communicate ideas, record history and to escape to places of fantasy.  Parents recognize the absolute importance of their children becoming strong readers and look for ways to help their children.

We would like to invite all parents to a presentation on the natural development of a reader and writer on Thursday, March 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Children's House Campus.  We will discuss the sequence of skills necessary to learn to read and the materials and techniques used to develop those skills.

Please R.S.V.P. so we can have a chair for you.  You may R.S.V.P. by sending an email to gina(at)peacefulpathwaysmontessori.com.

Scholastic Book Orders

Scholastic orders are due Thursday, March 19.  You may check out the available catalogs at the scholastic website by clicking this link..   Classroom orders are welcome, but you will find more to choose from online.  Thanks for supporting your school!  The children are enjoying the new books that you help us earn each month..
