Flower Arranging

The children notice God's beauty around them in everything.  Flower arranging work was "discovered" this past week.  The children love making the classroom beautiful.  Here are some photos of the children flower arranging.

The Concentration Builds

Each work in the classroom has a specific aim.  There are also needs being met other than the obvious.  For example, polishing a mirror.  When a child polishes a mirror - they are learning how to be independent.  The child is also learning how to follow a set of steps in a particular order.  To polish a mirror the child must first find the work on a shelf in the classroom.  Next the child carries the work to the table and gets out a mat to work on.  The mirror is removed from the box and then the water used to shine the mirror.  Using the spray bottle takes strength from the child's fingers as they pump the bottle.  This strength is needed as they get ready for the fine motor skill of neat handwriting.  After the mirror has enough of the spray the child takes a cloth and polishes the mirror.  The difference between a child and adult working is that the child is not polishing the mirror because it was dirty.  The child is enjoying the process over the task.  They may even repeat this task many times in a row.
